What is Instagram?
Instagram is a free, online photo-sharing application and social network platform that allows users to edit and upload photos and short videos and add a caption to each of their posts and use hashtags and location-based geotags to index these posts and make them searchable by other users within the app.
Prerequisites for linking Instagram Analytics account with ReportGarden
In order to link your Instagram Analytics account with ReportGarden, you need to ensure that
Your Instagram account is a business profile
Your Instagram account is verified
Your Instagram account is connected to the right Facebook page
You are an admin on the connected Facebook page

How do you link Instagram Analytics accounts on ReportGarden?
In order to link your Instagram Analytics accounts to ReportGarden, please follow the steps below
Navigate to ReportGarden -> Accounts.
Click on Link Account
Click on Instagram Analytics
You will be redirected to Instagram Analytics authentication screen. Enter your credentials, and give access to ReportGarden to read campaign performance data.
You will be redirected back to ReportGarden and the account will be visible in ReportGarden
Instagram Analytics Metrics and Dimensions
Instagram Analytics orders a wide variety of analytics, which are listed as below
Dimensions
The following dimensions are available for Instagram Analytics

Carousel Album | The album used in the Instagram post |
Stories | The stories posted on Instagram. Note: Instagram Stories can only be tracked after the account has been with ReportGarden. Historical data cannot be tracked. Instagram stories cannot be tracked for the duration your account is inactive |
Video Media | The video used in the Instagram Post |
All Posts | Instagram posts. These include scheduled posts, visitor posts and regular posts |
Gender | The gender of the audience viewing/taking actions on an Instagram post |
Age | The age of the audience viewing/taking actions on an Instagram post |
Gender + Age | The gender and age of the audience viewing/taking actions on an Instagram post |
City | The city where the audience viewing/taking actions on an Instagram post |

Posts Reach | Total number of unique Instagram accounts that have seen the post |
Comments Count | Count of comments on the media. Excludes comments on album child media and the media's caption. Includes replies on comments. |
Likes Count | Count of likes on the media. Excludes likes on album child media and likes on promoted posts created from the media. Includes replies on comments. |
Impressions | Total number of times the IG User's IG Media have been viewed. Includes ad activity generated through the API, Facebook ads interfaces, and the Promote feature. Does not include profile views. |
Reach | Total number of unique users who have viewed at least one of the IG User's IG Media. Repeat views and views across different IG Media owned by the IG User by the same user are only counted as a single view. Includes ad activity generated through the API, Facebook ads interfaces, and the Promote feature. Note: The reach of each day is treated as an aggregated metric and therefore cannot indicate the exact value |

Saved Count | No of saves on the Instagram post |
Engagements | Sum of likes, comments and saves on the post. |

Follower Count | Total number of new followers each day within the specified range. Returns a maximum of 30 days worth of data. Not available on IG Users with fewer than 100 followers. |
Total Follower Count | Total number of followers as on the end date of the given time period |
Total Follows Count | Total number of follows as on the end date of the given time period |
Total Media Count | Total no of media objects posted in the given time period |
Total Stories Count | Total no of stories posted in the given time period |
Story Impressions | Total number of times the story has been seen. |
Replies | Total number of replies on the story. Note: Value does not include replies made by users in some regions. These regions include: Europe starting December 1, 2020 and Japan starting April 14, 2021. If the Story was created by a user in one of these regions, returns a value of 0. |

Data Freshness and reporting durations
Instagram Analytics is a storage data connector
Data can only be fetched for the last 6 months. Beyond that, data cannot be retrieved.
Instagram stories can only be fetched from the day the account has been linked and the duration for which the account is active with ReportGarden
The historic data for some of the metrics differ. The details are mentioned below.

Follower Count - 30 days prior to the day the account was linked with ReportGarden
Email Contact, Get Direction Clicks, Impressions, Phone Call Clicks, Profile Views, Reach, Text Message Clicks Website Clicks- 30 days prior to the day the account was linked with ReportGarden
Total Follower Count - From the day we link the account. We can estimate data for the last 30 days, but may/may not be accurate
Total Follows Count, Follows Count - From the day account is linked. We wont have data for the days account token is not active
FAQ
Q: The data that I see in Instagram Analytics dashboard is not matching with what I see in ReportGarden
A: Follow the steps below to ensure that the right settings are selected
Ensure that the right date range is selected
Ensure that the right metrics are selected
Check for any filters
Q: The reach metric is not matching in ReportGarden
A: Reach is treated as a cumulative metric. The best approaches to get the closest reach possible is to use the metric Reach 28 days, which shows the reach 28 days from the end date selected as the time period
Q: Can I show data from Instagram Reels?
A: Yes, Meta has recently introduced the Reels API for developers and Reels data is now available in ReportGarden. Please refer the support article here for more details.
