We’re updating the way ReportGarden fetches Shopify data to improve data accuracy and reliability. ReportGarden will now read your Shopify data directly from Shopify’s own analytics engine, the same one that powers the Analytics section of your Shopify admin.
To support this update, Shopify now requires an additional permission for accessing reporting data. You’ll need to relink your Shopify account in ReportGarden to grant this permission.
What’s improving?
Your numbers match Shopify. Sales, discounts, taxes and returns now follow Shopify’s own definitions, so your ReportGarden reports line up with Shopify Analytics.
Your data is always current. Shopify widgets load data straight from Shopify, with no waiting for an overnight sync.
No need to rebuild anything. Your existing reports, dashboards and widgets keep working once you relink. Older metrics, breakdowns and filters continue to work and are marked (Deprecated) in the pickers.
What do you need to do?
If your Shopify account shows a “Relink needed” status in ReportGarden:
Go to the Accounts page.
Find your Shopify account.
Click Relink.
Complete the Shopify authorization process.
If your Shopify account does not show “Relink needed,” no action is required.
Please relink by Novmeber 2, 2026
Starting November 2, 2026, ReportGarden will stop fetching new data through the current Shopify integration.
If your account has not been relinked by then, your existing reports will continue to work, but Shopify data will no longer be updated. Your reports will only show data available up to the date the current integration stops fetching data.
To ensure your Shopify reports continue receiving the latest data, please relink any Shopify accounts that require action before October 20.
What will look different in your reports?
Most fields map directly to Shopify and won’t change. A few changes may affect how you read your reports:
1. Landing page and referrer now credit the visit that placed the order
Landing Site, Referring Site and Order Source now reflect the visit in which the customer placed the order. Previously, they reflected the customer’s first visit to your store.
For example, a shopper discovers your store through an Instagram ad, leaves, and comes back three days later through a Google search to buy:
| Landing page and referrer credited |
Before | Instagram ad (first visit) |
Now | Google search (visit that placed the order) |
This means reports grouped or filtered by landing page, referring site or source may shift credit away from channels that start the customer journey (like social and display ads) toward channels that close it (like search, email and direct). Your total sales stay the same; only where they’re credited changes. This matches how Shopify Analytics reports these fields.
2. Text filters now ignore upper and lower case
All text filters now match regardless of case. For example, a filter for “vip” will match “VIP”, “Vip” and “vip”.
Previously, Contains, Starts with, Ends with and Does not contain were case-sensitive unless you chose the “ignore case” option. Both options now behave the same way. If a filter relied on case to separate values (for example, the tags “Sale” and “SALE”), it will now match both and may include more orders than before.
3. A few fields have changed
Field | Type | What’s changed |
Line Items | Metric | Closely estimated |
Line Items / Order | Metric | Closely estimated |
Products Ordered | Metric | Closely estimated |
Line Item | Breakdown | Closely estimated |
Line Item Name | Filter | Closely estimated |
Order Source | Filter | Closely estimated |
Orders - total outstanding | Metric | No longer available |
Unique Products Ordered | Metric | No longer available |
Closely estimated fields are very close to, but may not exactly match, the figures you saw earlier. Fields that are no longer available will show 0, so we recommend removing them from your reports or replacing them with a related metric.
