Inserting a Template

When a user selects Use Template, the template is inserted into the report based on the entry point:

Add Page (Top-Level)

  • Template is added at the end of the report

  • If the template includes sections, the structure is preserved

Add Page Inside a Section

  • Template pages are added to the end of the current section

  • If the template contains sections, they are flattened and only pages are inserted

Style and Data Behavior

Style Inheritance

All inserted templates automatically inherit:

  • Report theme

  • Fonts and colors

  • Header and footer settings

This ensures visual consistency across the report.

Widget Data Behavior

  • If the required integration is connected, widgets begin fetching data immediately

  • If not connected, widgets display errors consistent with existing behavior

Template Orientation Handling

Templates are filtered by orientation to prevent layout mismatches.

  • Portrait reports show only portrait templates

  • Landscape reports show only landscape-compatible templates

Orientation is stored at the template level and enforced automatically.

Saving Templates

What Can Be Saved

Users can save:

  • A single page

  • A full section

  • An entire report

Save as Template Flow

  1. Initiate save from the page, section, or report menu

  2. Provide template details:

    • Template name (required)

  3. Save template

Upon success, a confirmation message is shown:

“Template saved successfully.”

Saved templates appear under "My Templates" for reuse across future reports.
